The books containing correspondence are harder to search and serve the purpose of broadening the understanding of the engagements that the researcher's ancestor was present at. I thought perhaps there would be a more detailed description of the events of May 5, 1864 to describe the capture of Otis McOmber by Confederate soldiers, but I found nothing. There were no direct mentions of Co. B nor of the 76th at the Wilderness, however losses were noted by Union officers.

This type of resource isn't useful for everyone, but they can help elaborate on information found in the supplemental books.
